American Le Mans Series
Mosport 2000

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous of the SportsCar series races, but other famous races like the Sebring 12 hours and the Daytona 24 Hours are also filled with history.   Dale Earnhardt Sr and Jr teamed up with Corvette Racing and Ron Fellows for the 2001 Daytona race and they loved it.  Respect was certainly gained, but the experience will never be repeated.  It was Earnhardt's last crossing of the finish line.

It is a more laid-back environment.   Perhaps it's because of less media intensity, but the intensity on the track is as invigorating as any other top form of racing, for both drivers and spectators alike.   MImmo Schiattarella embodies the marketability of these drivers.  He is as good a driver as anyone in F1 (OK, maybe not all of them) but I am sure that an F1 driver coming the other way, like Jan Magnussen did, would definitely be no better than Mimmo, or Dindo Capello of Audi Team Joest.

If you haven't seen ALMS yet, take a chance and check it out.  Satisfaction guaranteed.
