Here is what you need to know: Lewis has years of success to come (it took Schumi 3 years to win his first WC and 9 to win his third).  This Lewis suit is of a market of only ONE item.  Autosport.Net is the only entity in the world to have offered either Lewis suit or helmet during this, his rookie season.

No other 2007 suit can be acquired by anyone.  If you are a big-time F1 collector you do not have anything original of Lewis.  Your collection is simply incomplete.

Lewis Hamilton:  The greatest rookie in Formula 1 history.

He is a 22-year-old who rewrites the Formula One record books every time he steps into his MP4/22.  Here is what he's done to this point:

  • Lewis Hamilton never raced in Formula 1 prior to this season
  • Lewis is 22 years old and has shown no fear of either his adversaries or to the F1 publicity machine
  • Lewis' teammate, Fernando Alonso, is a double World Champion who beat Michael Schumacher handily in both championships with a car that was no better than the Ferrari (when comparing #2 drivers for each team)
  • Alonso was correctly described - before Lewis' ascendancy - as the unequivocal best driver in F1
  • Lewis may have a fabulous car but the "Car Makes the Driver" argument is irrelevant in comparing Lewis to Alonso since Alonso OWNED Giancarlo Fisichella at Renault for two Championship years, meaning Lewis would have buckled by now if he was not Fernando's equal
  • Lewis has podiumed (and not just finished) in each race where he did not suffer a mechanical failure during the weekend
  • He is a marketer's dream come true, an articulate, polished young man who transcends racial boundaries and will take F1 to the rest of the world as its face for years to come, regardless of jealousies
  • Lewis will only get richer and less accessible, meaning you won't get this suit for cheaper years or even months from now from anyone else in the world

What more proof does one need?  Lewis is already at least equal to Fernando Alonso and can arguably be described as F1's best current driver. Getting this suit before he becomes the hyperstar everyone knows he will become would be your greatest collectible achievement to date.

Consistently fast, telegenic and F1's first equivalent to Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods and David Beckham, there is no reason to doubt this young man will be World Champion... perhaps this year!  Tiger Woods is following his progress avidly (and you can just see the ads with them both wearing TAG Heuers soon to come).  If his new whirlwind off-track interest wasn't enough, how about on-track?  Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen have sliced and diced with him and Lewis has proven himself.  Plus, this is the best teammate duel since Ayrton Senna v Alain Prost, or Nigel Mansell v Nelson Piquet.

This is a Lewis Hamilton worn Nomex suit - made by Sparco - with a Sparco McLaren installed Hamilton identifying serial number within it.  (To prevent counterfeits you must email here:  to request specific photos of the identifying characteristics of this race suit. )

It was graciously signed, dated and donated to the Ayrton Senna Foundation by Lewis and his father, Anthony, at Monaco.  It was purchased by me at the auction the next evening.  If it were to ever happen again, expect to have to pay more than $50,000, especially competing against the super-wealthy.

Having spoken with Anthony Hamilton at Montreal, he informed me that there is no other raced suit by Lewis available, that mine is the only one in private hands, and that it was for his own collection.  Anthony Hamilton donated his own suit to the Senna Foundation.

For hardcore Formula 1 collectors to consider:  The ratio of Michael Schumacher to Kimi Raikkonen suits made available during the 2003 season is about 20 to 1.  Why?  Schumi's suits were owned by him to do with as he pleased.  Also, Schumi had a minimum of THREE suits worn per weekend so they could go to market for a higher average price per suit.  Direct buyers were rarely promised that the particular suit of a weekend - 1, 2, or 3 as numbered under the belt - was the Sunday race suit.  The policy was by design so the suits sold for a tighter range and, on average, sold for more.  Very few were ever documented as "Sunday suits" and those without proper documentation may have been from the weekend, but not Sunday suits as may have been advertised.

However, McLaren's driver race suits are contractually owned by Ron Dennis, not the driver.  This is also McLaren's policy for driver's trophies (the drivers get copies). There are very few Kimi Raikkonen McLaren suits for that reason.  Lewis is certainly not allowed to keep most of his race suits from this 2007 rookie season.  Ron and sponsors own the majority.  This was Anthony Hamilton's suit of his son's.

In summary, there are at least 600 Ferrari Schumacher overalls.  There is only one pair of Lewis Hamilton overalls available anywhere, and that "will remain the case for the foreseeable future." (Anthony Hamilton's words, not mine.)  Therefore our asking price is not at all unreasonable when considering the popularity of the driver and the relative rarity of this item.  Take into consideration that any future suits, if and when available, will be acquired in Pounds Sterling.

Again: Your top F1 collection is incomplete because you don't have this.

Remember when Google shares were deemed too expensive at $100 a share at their IPO? This is the only opportunity anyone currently has to purchase a top item of Lewis Hamilton's and there's now good reason to believe that the next time there is a set of his overalls available they will command in excess of £ 25,000 Pounds.  An original helmet certainly will.

Also, please consider this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140129568528 His Vodafone go-kart ( ebay item 140129568528 if you can't open the link ), as announced on ITV F1 by James Allen and Martin Brundle during the USGP sold on eBay for £ 42,100.00 (that at the time was US$ 83,450.00). Yes, the price included a chance to meet Lewis but as you can see by my photos on my news page here I'm always in the Paddock when I'm at an F1 race, and I always take care of my friends.

This is a unique opportunity. It's Lewismania. More detailed photos and references are available upon request.
